We welcomed Year 3 into the Prep School and they have excelled themselves with their positive, smart and enthusiastic start.
Wednesday afternoons have brought the children together in mixed year groups for outdoor learning and activities ranging from Viking knitting, environmentally-inspired art, den and shelter building, learning conkers, pavement art and stickman creations.
The children presented and performed at both the Harvest Festival Service and the tremendous Languages Assembly. Delivering confident performances in front of large audiences, the Junior children should feel very proud of themselves.
On the sports field, matches and festivals have provided all children with the opportunity to represented their school, which they have done with pride and enthusiasm.
Year 3 | From Roman mosaics to woodland adventures
Year 3 have been busy building their confidence in maths, developing their understanding of place value before moving on to addition and subtraction. In English, they have explored creative writing, including stories set in a night-time zoo!
At Seeley Copse, the children explored woodland and strengthened friendships as a new year group. A visit to Bignor Roman Villa brought their Roman topic to life, with mosaics and the ingenious hypocaust heating system to discover.
Thank you Mr A for coming in to talk to the children about looking after their teeth!
Year 4 | Chasing yetis and following rivers
A visit to Fishbourne Meadows brought the children's Misty Mountains and Winding Rivers topic to life. What a way to make the most of our wonderful local landscape.
Pupils have been working hard in maths. A little regular practice on Times Tables Rock Stars will help keep those multiplication skills super sharp!
In English, they began with creative writing, creating exciting stories about finding yetis, using wonderful imagery and descriptive words and phrases to bring our stories to life. They then moved on to poetry, exploring the creative world of calligrams.
Celebrating personal bests
From academic achievements and positive behaviour to playground certificates, music credits and patrols, there has already been plenty to celebrate this term.
Our celebration assemblies recognise children's efforts and achievements, while kindness stars shine a light on the thoughtful acts that make a difference to others.
Congratulations to all our Junior children. We look forward to celebrating many more achievements next half term!
